LimeWire: Advantages and Disadvantages

LimeWire is a peer-to-peer network that allows the sharing of files.  It can be downloaded from http://www.limewire.com/. Advantages and disadvantages of LimeWire are posted below. Please comment based on your experience with LimeWire.

Advantages of LimeWire:

• Allows users to access rare music files.
• Allows users to find music from all over the world.
• Allows up-and-coming artists to post their music to reach a wider audience.
• Allows users to find many types of files in a central location.
• Allows people to preview music before they buy.

Disadvantages of LimeWire:

• Artists become concerned with copyright infringement.
• Users could upload viruses which could ruin a person's computer.
• Users could also access important information through spyware.
• People could upload illegal material, such as pornography.
